SpeechClaw does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your API key and preferences stay in your browser. We have no servers, no analytics, and no tracking.

What SpeechClaw does

SpeechClaw is a Chrome extension that adds text-to-speech and speech-to-text capabilities to claude.ai. It reads the text content of Claude's responses to convert them into audio, and captures microphone input to transcribe your voice into text.

Data stored locally

The following data is stored in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.sync):

ElevenLabs API key — entered by you, used to authenticate API calls
Selected voice ID — your preferred voice for text-to-speech
Language preference — your selected language

This data never leaves your browser except when making API calls to ElevenLabs (see below). It syncs across your Chrome devices via your Google account, as part of Chrome's built-in sync feature.

Third-party services

SpeechClaw communicates with a single third-party service:

ElevenLabs API (api.elevenlabs.io) — to validate your API key, list available voices, and convert text to speech. The text content of Claude's responses is sent to this API for audio generation. ElevenLabs' own privacy policy applies to this data: elevenlabs.io/privacy.

Speech-to-text uses Chrome's built-in Web Speech API and does not send data to any third-party server controlled by SpeechClaw.

Data we collect

None. SpeechClaw has no backend, no servers, no database, and no analytics. We do not collect, store, process, or have access to any user data whatsoever.

Data we sell or share

None. We do not sell, transfer, or share any user data with any third party for any purpose.

Permissions explained

storage — save your preferences (API key, voice, language)
offscreen — access the microphone for voice input (required by Chrome's Manifest V3)
tabs — open the microphone permission page in a new tab
host permission (api.elevenlabs.io) — make API calls to ElevenLabs
content script (claude.ai) — inject the speaker and microphone buttons into the Claude interface

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, the changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. SpeechClaw will remain committed to not collecting user data.
